MARIN COUNTY, CA — A new Marin investigator has been hired to probe hate crimes and Brown Act violations, the county’s District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
William Reid will also handle community outreach and education, the DA’s office said.
A hate crime is defined as a criminal offense against a person, group, or property motivated by the victim's real or perceived protected social group

The Brown Act, also known as a “sunshine” law for local government, requires local government business to be conducted transparently with limited exceptions.
The DA confirmed Reid’s hiring on social media.
