Outrageous, Unusual and Quirky Low Water Use Plants

Many of us are longing to create low-water-use gardens that have plants that are unusual or a little out of the ordinary while still being drought tolerant.  Kevin Sadlier, Horticulturalist and owner of Green Jeans Nursery, will present a talk (and show) on plants that fit this description on Oct. 12 at the Falkirk Cultural Center.

Looking for something with unusual foliage? Outlandish flowers? Rare color? He will discuss the ideal conditions for growing some of these plants in our county.  He may even bring some plants not yet released by the growing industry! There will be a small sale of some of these plants after his talk.

After the talk and sale please join and help Marin Master Gardeners in the Falkirk Gardens from 10:00 until 1:00.  We will be doing our usual fall maintenance while answering your gardening questions.  Please bring gloves, hats, water and sunscreen.

Event will be in the Under Oaks Garden next to the Greenhouse.

Coffee and snacks will be provided.  $5.00 donation requested.

The talk is on Oct. 12 and starts at 9am at FALKIRK CULTURAL CENTER, 1408 Mission Ave., San Rafael in the Under Oaks Garden. Parking: Park in the public lot on Mission and E but read the signs to avoid ticketing.
