San Rafael City Council Backs $21M Project

The contract was awarded to Ghilotti Bros. Inc., a San Rafael company, city officials said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — The city of San Rafael last week pulled the trigger on a multimillion-dollar project.

The San Rafael City Council at its Feb. 7 meeting backed the $20.8 million Third Street Rehabilitation project.

The contract was awarded to Ghilotti Bros. Inc., a San Rafael company, city officials said.

The project is a joint venture between the city, the San Rafael Sanitation District, and the Marin Municipal Water District.

The Third Street corridor is one of the busiest arterials in Marin County and a major thoroughfare through San Rafael to West Marin County.

The construction is anticipated to start in March and last through the summer of 2023, city officials said.

Along with the award of construction the City Council also authorized reimbursement agreements for the Marin Municipal Water District and the San Rafael Sanitation District that will allow the utilities to be invoiced and pay reimbursable expenses.
