SAN RAFAEL, CA — An employee at a San Rafael Home Depot was arrested this week on allegations that she managed to siphon more than $1 million from the store over just 14 months.

Police said the store contacted them Tuesday after completing an internal investigation that revealed an estimated $1.2 million in cash embezzled from the store since last August. According to investigators, the woman admitted to taking cash from the store and had more than $8,000 in her possession at the time of her arrest.

San Rafael detectives executed a search warrant at the employee's home, discovering a small amount of cash and a large number of designer merchandise that police believe was bought with embezzled funds.
