San Rafael Theater Arts Legend Margie Belrose Dies At 92
The founder of the Belrose Theatre, and the School of Dance and Performing Arts Center died of natural causes.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Margie Belrose, a legend in Marin’s theater arts community, has died, her family announced in a Facebook post.
The founder of the Belrose Theatre, and the School of Dance and Performing Arts Center was 92.
“It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Margie Belrose,” the post read.

Belrose died at her home of natural causes, according to an obituary her children wrote that was posted on Legacy.com.

“Miss Margie,” as she was called affectionately, taught more than 6,000 students Tap, ballet, jazz and acting.
“As it would happen,” her children wrote, “turns out it wasn't just dance Margie would end up teaching it was instead the lessons of life she instilled in her students.
“To dream, to take chances, to dare to become all you inspire to be to believe in yourself, to trust yourself, to learn to encourage yourself and just as the sign says that hangs above the doors to the theatre, to ‘listen to the music and dance to life.’"
A Celebration of her life will be held at The Belrose (1415 5th Ave., in San Rafael) on Oct. 23 from 3 to 6 p.m. with a program at 4 p.m.
Donations can be made in Belrose’s honor by contributing to a GoFundMe that will support the nonprofit, Belrose Theatre Performing Arts Center that she loved.
