San Rafael Weighs Leaf Blower Ban

SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael is moving closer to banning leaf blowers.
City staff will present a report on a proposed ordinance at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, officials said.
The proposal is currently being finalized, city officials said.

The proposal “will further the City's efforts to achieve its 2030 Climate Change Action Plan” and it “aligns with the State’s zero-emission policy,” according to text from the draft ordinance.”
Should San Rafael ban leaf blowers, it would join a growing list of municipalities to halt use of a gardening tool that can produce more than a 100 decibels of low frequency noise.

More than 100 municipalities have already banned or limited the use of leaf blowers, Audubon reports.
