Sex Offender Stalked Woman He'd Never Met On Her Way To Work: Police

He approached the woman and made sexual comments, and when she tried to get away, he followed her and blocked her path, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A sex registrant was arrested and charged after he stalked a woman who was walking to work and made lewd sexual comments, according to San Rafael Police.

Darrien James Humphries, 25, of Vacaville, was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into Marin County jail on felony false imprisonment, felony stalking and being a sex registrant on school grounds, police said.

Police received a 911 text just before 10:30 a.m. from the woman reporting she was being followed and intimidated on Professional Center Parkway near Redwood Highway, according to authorities. A responding officer saw Humphries and the victim briefly walk onto the property of a private school, police said, adding Humphries stood in the woman’s path and was detained.

Investigators learned Humphries approached the woman and made lewd and sexual comments, and when she tried to get away, he followed her and blocked her path, according to police, who said the woman had never met Humphries.

Humphries is a sex registrant, most recently in Suisun City, on post-release community supervision out of Santa Clara County, police said.
