San Rafael, CA – Just after midnight, on Saturday, April 2, 2022, The San Rafael Police Department began receiving 9-1-1 calls about a shooting in the 700 block of B Street between First Street and Second Street. Witnesses calling our communications center reported multiple shots fired.

Additional calls were received during the response where witnesses observed two separate vehicles fleeing the area of the 7-Eleven convenience store at B Street and First Street.
Officer arrived within seconds and were unable to locate any involved persons. It appeared all involved persons had fled the scene.

During the investigation into what occurred, it was determined that there had been a physical fight between two groups of subjects just before the shooting. During the fight, suspects from each group escalated the incident when they began shooting at each other.
Police closed the area for two hours and called in detectives to start an investigation into what occurred.
Officers and investigators located several items related to the shooting and are currently reviewing surveillance videos to identify suspects and gain leads as to what occurred.
