A classical dance that narrates Indian mythology with sophisticated movement, colorful costumes and live music will be performed at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center this Saturday.
The Vrindavan Indian Dance Academy's Karbi Choudhury, a student with over seven years of experience, will perform an "arangetram," which is a graduation performance in the technique of Bharata Natyam.
Originated from South India, 'Bharata Natyam' is a classical dance in which performers communicate stories through movement, hand gestures and facial expressions.
The performance with a live orchestra will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 and is free and open to the public.
