Group Caught Trying To Sell Fake Jewelry To Seniors: San Ramon PD

SAN RAMON, CA — 2 adults and 3 children were contacted by police after someone saw them attempting to sell fake and inexpensive, or 'costume', jewelry to seniors in parking lots, police said.

The group was also trying to swap jewelry with elderly people but someone eventually called 911 and tipped off the police.

40 pieces of fake gold jewelry were found when their car was searched, the San Ramon Police Department said.

"Thankfully, an alert citizen notified police and as of now, no victims have come forward."

The department is crediting the community for alerting them and reminding people to speak up.

Police did not share if anyone was arrested or what the charges would have been.
