📰 Here are the top stories in Santa Barbara today:
- Last week, the Sheriff’s Department responded to a call in the 4600 block of Gate Way. A fight close to a community pool left a 20-year-old man with serious injuries. Four suspects have been arrested and “booked on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery, and conspiracy.” (KSBY)
- What’s with the hit-and-runs? Reportedly, there were three of them just on Wednesday. They were in the 400 block of West Padre St., a Ciff Drive parking lot, and on San Andrés St. (edhat)
- Reserve funds will save the Monroe Elementary after-school program. The city councilmembers also opted to extend library hours. However, councilwoman Meagan Harmon only sees this as a spot fix and suggested lowering the reserve policy currently followed by Santa Barbara. “The city has a 15 percent disaster reserve fund and 10 percent contingency fund.” (NoozHawk)
- On Tuesday, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History sent the remains of two Peruvians to the country's consulate in L.A. They were excavated from a necropolis in northern Lima Province, Peru, and donated to the facility in 1925. “We have been honored to care for these remains for many years and are grateful that we can transfer custody,” the museum’s president explained. (edhat)
- A shoutout to Chris Powers! He is one of the athletes participating in the Special Olympics Summer Games. This year marks his 20th year of participating. (KEYT)
