Here are the top three stories today in Santa Barbara:
- Due to the increase in fentanyl-related overdose deaths in the nation, and Santa Barbara County specifically, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has created a new Narcan distribution program. Narcan, a drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose, is now distributed for free to the public at multiple locations, including the sheriff's office headquarters and the Carpinteria and Santa Maria substations. (KEYT)
- Due to the rapid spread of avian influenza strain H5N1, the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network has increased its safety measures. At this time, visitors are not allowed inside the organization's facility. (KEYT)
- From Mar. 31 through Apr. 4, the Santa Barbara Public Library’s Central Library will be closed due to construction projects. Construction includes asbestos abatement, elevator construction, and a lower-level remodel. Items waiting on hold and due dates for materials already checked out will be extended. All materials will remain at the library and will be inaccessible during this stage of construction, but patrons can continue to place holds on items. (Subscription: The Santa Barbara Independent)
