More Than 1,000 People Lose Power In Santa Monica

More than 1,000 people lost power in Santa Monica Wednesday afternoon, Southern California Edison reports.

SANTA MONICA, CA — More than 1,000 people in Santa Monica lost power Wednesday afternoon, Southern California Edison reports.

Multiple outages were reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the Ocean Park and Sunset Park neighborhoods, according to the utility. It's unclear what caused the outage. The utility was analyzing the problem.

Santa Monica Police were also responding to downed power lines in the area near Lincoln Boulevard and Marine Street, it's unclear if it's related.

It's the second major power outage Wednesday on the Westside.

About 45,000 people on the Westside lost power during rainy weather Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power reported.

A fire at one of the receiving stations nearby prompted the outage, the department said. Power was restored by Wednesday afternoon.
