Trejo's Tacos Opening In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, CA — Trejo's Tacos is coming to Santa Monica, bringing the flavor to the beach this spring.

The new Santa Monica location will open in April or May at 316 Santa Monica Blvd. It's the former location of Le Pain Quotidien, which closed in the pandemic.

Details for the grand opening are not available yet, but Danny Trejo will be there, the company told Patch.

Actor Danny Trejo has opened taco spots across Los Angeles County, even adding a donut shop to the mix back in 2017.

Trejo's Tacos serves up tons of tacos and bites, including veggie options, carnitas, asada, chicken, baja fish, shrimp, salmon. Burritos, quesadillas, street corn and taquitos also make the list.

The La Brea, Hollywood, Westside and Farmer's Market locations remain open for outdoor dining, pickup and delivery, the company said.

Trejo has starred in movies including "Machete," "Heat," and "From Dusk Till Dawn," and has referred to tacos as the perfect meal and also has a new cookbook "Trejo's Tacos: Recipes and Stories from L.A."

"The taco is so versatile. You can do anything with a taco, except don't put ketchup on it. You can put carnitas. You can put carne asada, avocado, anything," Trejo told KCRW in 2020.
