48 Arrested During East County Warrant Sweep

The Sheriff's Department is stepping up efforts to clear outstanding warrants.

A warrant sweep across East County Saturday resulted in 48 arrests and 65 cleared warrants, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The Field Unit of the department’s Court Services conducted the sweep from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m., looking for suspects with outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, according to Sgt. David Ross. The sweep covered La Mesa, Santee and El Cajon, and unincorporated areas of Alpine and Lakeside, according to the department.

In a press release, the Sheriff’s Department said that it has increased its efforts in apprehending wanted subjects over the last several months and will continue to do so. Persons with outstanding warrants are encouraged to turn themselves in at any of the sheriff’s court facilities Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
