Armed Suspect Arrested After SWAT Standoff In East County Home
Tyrin Carter, 25, threatened to shoot someone inside the home with a handgun, sheriff's officials said.

LEMON GROVE, CA — A man suspected of threatening to shoot someone was arrested after a SWAT standoff of several hours, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon around 12:10 p.m. Monday at a home in the 1700 block of Skyline Drive in Lemon Grove, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect, Tyrin Carter, 25, threatened to shoot someone inside the home with a handgun, Sgt. David Leonhardi said.

"A struggle ensued over the handgun until another resident used a golf club to disarm Carter," Leonhardi said. "Residents tried to detain Carter until deputies arrived, but Carter escaped, hiding within the home."
Deputies evacuated the residents, and the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail and Crisis Negotiations Team worked to get Carter to come out of the home peacefully, Leonhardi said. He was arrested around 8 p.m. and treated for injuries suffered during the struggle over the handgun.

Carter was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, assault with a firearm, burglary, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, among other charges, according to jail logs.
