Boy In Critical Condition After Hit-And-Run Crash In East County

Police said the boy suffered major head trauma and was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

EL CAJON, CA — A boy was in critical condition Thursday after a hit-and-run collision in San Diego's East County, authorities said.

Officers responded around 8 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a hit-and-run in the 300 block of Ballantyne Street in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department. First responders found a 12-year-old boy in the roadway.

Police said the boy suffered major head trauma and was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses described the suspect's vehicle as a white or silver SUV, with damage on the front end, according to the department.
