Crews Halt Brush Fire In San Diego's East County
The blaze sparked amid red flag weather conditions.

CREST, CA — Crews halted a brush fire that sparked Thursday afternoon amid red flag weather conditions in the East County area of San Diego County.
The fire was reported at 1:07 p.m. in the 1100 block of Hamlet Drive, near La Cresta Road in Crest, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log.
The blaze, dubbed the Hamlet Fire, burned in the area of Hamlet Drive and La Cresta Road, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

Ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters worked to extinguish the flames, which posed no reported structural threats. The fire blackened two to three acres before firefighters stopped forward progress of the flames.
