Driver Arrested After Series Of Hit-And-Run Crashes In East County
The 34-year-old driver appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff's office.
SANTEE, CA — A man was arrested after injuring at least one person in a series of hit-and-run crashes in San Diego's East County, authorities said.
Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station responded shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a hit-and-run collision involving a green SUV near Prospect and North Magnolia avenues in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. The El Cajon Police Department simultaneously broadcast a "be on the lookout" bulletin for a similar SUV that collided with several vehicles in El Cajon.
A wrong-way driver driving a green SUV was reported by a caller at 6:38 p.m. in Santee, according to the sheriff's office. An off-duty sheriff's sergeant found the suspect vehicle driving south on Timberlane Way. The suspect vehicle collided with two vehicles at Mast Boulevard and Bilteer Drive, injuring the driver of one vehicle.

The SUV veered off the roadway and stuck a San Diego Gas & Electric power box. The 34-year-old driver appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff's office. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The suspect has not been identified.
