Driver Arrested During DUI Checkpoint In Santee

SANTEE, CA — A motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol during a DUI checkpoint in Santee, authorities said.

The DUI and driver's license checkpoint was held from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 9200 block of Carlton Hills Boulevard, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

There were three DUI evaluations, but only one DUI arrest of the 863 vehicles that drove through the checkpoint, according to the sheriff's office.

A total of 30 cars were sent to secondary inspection for evaluation, where four drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed, officials said. One driver was cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and two drivers were cited for driving without a license in their possession.
