2. Santee Landmark: The Granite House, memorial at 9534 Via Zapador.
Built in 1933, it was the only building in town made entirely from Santee-based materials and represents a style of craftsmanship not used anymore. The granite was quarried at the Coyote Hill Quarry where Cameron's Movile Home Park currently stands. The house was demolished as it was in the path of the SR-52 extension. The wall at the current site that holds the memorial plaque is composed of granite blocks from the house. Granite House Lane is another reminder of the unique local home.
