Gas Leak Prompts Shelter-In-Place Order In East County

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A gas leak prompted authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order in San Diego's East County.
The gas leak was reported between Jamacha Boulevard and Sweetwater Springs Boulevard in Spring Valley, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for areas north of U.S. Elevator Road, south of Jamacha Boulevard and east of Sweetwater Springs Road, the sheriff's office said. Authorities advised residents to stay indoors until further notice.

"It is recommended that residents go indoors and shelter-in-place," officials said. "Of special concern are people with respiratory and other medical conditions that put them at risk."
