Man Fatally Shot At East County Park
Deputies found a man lying on the ground with signs of trauma to his upper torso.
LEMON GROVE, CA — A man in his 50s was fatally shot over the weekend at an East County park, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a report of assault with a deadly weapon at about 12:40 p.m. Sunday at Kunkel Park in Lemon Grove, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. They found a man lying on the ground with signs of trauma to his upper torso.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died, sheriff's Lt. Michael Krugh said.

The motivation and circumstances surrounding the homicide remained unclear, Krugh said. A suspect description wasn't immediately available.
"Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect and victim were acquainted," Krugh said. "Since the investigation is ongoing, no additional information will be released."
