Oceans of Talent at Arts Attack Fundraiser: Students Are Shipshape
Santee School District Foundation held third annual auction and show at Boys and Girls Club.
Santee hasn’t been under water for millions of years, but that didn’t dissuade creative students at a recent Art Show and Auction at the Boys and Girls Club of East County, sponsored by the Santee School District Foundation.
Theme of the third annual show Feb. 28 was Under the Sea.
“The Art Show and Auction highlighted student creativity and art production while raising money to support the Arts Attack program that is taught at each school site in the Santee School District,” said Joe Spencer, vice president of the foundation board.

Children’s art included sculpture, painting and design. And the event featured a live auction of student work.
For the first time, a live eBay bidding table was in place where two pieces of art work could be auctioned live during the event and through the following day.

The live auction featured art pieces from each school created by a group of students from that school, Spencer said
“Items this year included a large wishing well and a carved wooden table from the students at PRIDE Academy and a beautiful mirror that was decorated by students at Carlton Oaks,” he said.
Several local restaurants offered to donate a percentage of their sales that day to the Santee School District Foundation. Diners simply needed to present a flyer at the time of their order and a percentage of their bill would be donated.
Restaurants taking part included Lacey J’s Roadhouse, Chili's, Fox's Pizza Den and Rubio’s.
The Santee School District thanked the following companies for their sponsorship or participation as a vendor at the event:
- Boys and Girls Club of East County
- Barnhardt, Belford & Beatty Construction
- California Coast Credit Union
- Boomers
- Postcard Jack
- Art with Larisse
