Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In East County
The man was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said.
EL CAJON, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday morning in San Diego's East County, authorities said.
The collision happened at 4:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of North Second Street between El Rey and Flamingo avenues in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department.
Officers and paramedics found an unidentified man suffering from major injuries, police Lt. Joe Crawford said. He was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The 58-year-old driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and was cooperative with officers, Crawford said.
"After a preliminary investigation, it appears the man was wearing dark clothing and standing in the roadway for an unknown reason," he said.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the collision, Crawford said.
