EL CAJON, CA — A hit-and-run on an El Cajon thoroughfare left a 63-year-old pedestrian dead over the weekend, authorities reported Monday.

A westbound pickup truck struck the man as he was crossing the roadway in the 1300 block of East Main Street at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, according to police. The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, died at the scene, Lt. Darrin Forster said.

Using images from a surveillance-camera system, investigators were able to identify the involved vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Ram, and the 64-year-old man who allegedly was driving it at the time of the traffic fatality.
