Santee To Celebrate New Fire Station With Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

"We are very excited to open Santee's third fire station in the southwestern area of our city," Fire Chief Harley Wallace said.

SANTEE, CA — A new fire station is serving the city of Santee.

Interim Fire Station 20 opened Tuesday inside the Santee Operations Yard. The station was established to support growing service needs while the city begins the process of building a permanent station at the same location.

The city will celebrate the new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Oct. 24.

"We are very excited to open Santee's third fire station in the southwestern area of our city," said Harley Wallace, fire chief of the Santee Fire Department. "This facility will improve emergency response times and the service that we provide our citizens."

Interim Fire Station 20 is the first additional fire station the Santee has opened since 1964.

The station is staffed by professional firefighter/paramedics and equipped with a Type 1 fire engine, according to the city. The city plans to relocate an existing paramedic ambulance to Interim Station 20 at a later date.

Interim Fire Station 20 aims to boost response times in the southwest area of Santee with plans for the construction of a permanent fire station in the same location in the future, according to the city.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks from city and fire department leadership, as well as a tour of the facility. The event will take place from 10-11 a.m. Oct. 24 at the new station located inside the Santee Operations Yard at 9534 Via Zapador Way.
