Santee To Host Softball Event For People With Disabilities
Santee's Town Center Field will host an event where top softball players coach people with disabilities.
SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diegans with disabilities will have the opportunity this summer to learn softball skills from Triple Crown Sports competitors.
The Beautiful Lives Project, a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities learn life lessons through sports, is organizing a game at Santee’s Town Center Ballfield on July 11 from 1:30 to 3:30.
Athletes and coaches from across the country playing in the Amateur Athletic League will teach guests softball fundamentals and run through drills. No prior experience is needed.

The Beautiful Lives Project was founded by Bryce Weiler, a blind sports broadcaster who founded the Field of Dreams organization. At Field of Dreams, Weiler worked to find professional and college sports teams willing to share facilities and talent to help people with disabilities feel included.
In 2017, Weiler partnered with entrepreneur and owner of the New Britain Bees Independent League Baseball team to create the Beautiful Lives Project.

“I enjoy being able to give people with disabilities opportunities to have these experiences and to have their parents realize that anyone can do anything they put their mind to in life if they’re given the opportunity,” Weiler told Fox San Diego. “I hope this leads to people with disabilities being able to find more employment and success in life.”
