Spring Valley Shooting Injures 1, Another Arrested: Cops

An argument between two men in a Dictionary Hill County Preserve neighborhood escalated Tuesday into a shooting.

SPRING VALLEY, CA — An argument between two men in a neighborhood near Dictionary Hill County Preserve escalated Tuesday into a shooting that left one of them hospitalized and the other under arrest.

The gunfire erupted at a home in the 10000 block of Don Pico Road in Spring Valley at about 8 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Patrol personnel arrived to find the shooter gone and the handgun with which he apparently had shot the victim left behind at the scene, Lt. Patrick Fox said.

Paramedics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., deputies searching the area found the suspected assailant in the 3500 block of Sweetwater Springs Boulevard, a few blocks north of the site of the shooting, the lieutenant said. The man, whose name was not immediately available, surrendered peaceably.

The nature of the dispute between the men, who apparently were acquainted, was unclear, Fox said.
