Toddler's Death Under Investigation In East County
Deputies responded to a call of a toddler not breathing over the weekend in Lakeside, authorities said.
LAKESIDE, CA — Detectives are investigating the death of a toddler who was found not breathing at a home in San Diego's East County and later died at a hospital.
Deputies responded to a call of a toddler not breathing at 8:53 p.m. Saturday in the 11600 block of Camino De Tierra in Lakeside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Lakeside substation and paramedics from the Lakeside Fire Department arrived and performed life-saving measures on the toddler, sheriff's Lt. Patrick Fox said. The child was taken to a hospital, where they died.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of the toddler's death.
