Trout Season Kicks Off This Weekend At Santee Lakes
Santee Lakes will be stocked with 3,500 pounds of rainbow and steelhead trout for the two-day Trout Season Opener.

SANTEE, CA — Trout season kicks off this weekend at Santee Lakes.
Santee Lakes will be stocked with 3,500 pounds of rainbow and steelhead trout for the two-day Trout Season Opener, according to event organizers. Lakes 3, 4, 6 and 7 will be stocked. There will also be lightning trout, also known as golden rubies.
"This is a great family-friendly outdoor event," a news release from Santee Lakes said. "Whether you're an avid angler or fishing for the first time, we hope you give Santee Lakes a visit."

There will be a Fishing 101 class held at the General Store from 8-9:30 a.m. on both days of the event.
The Trout Season Opener is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Santee Lakes.

Gate entrance is $7 per car. Permits can be purchased in advance at the General Store. Permits cost $10 for adults and $6 for juniors and seniors. A second pole stamp is $4.
Adults are $10 and Juniors & Seniors are $6 and a second pole stamp is $4.
