Today our family witnessed the opening of the Emma McCrary trail. What I find special about this moment is that all ages of the community got together to help this trail live in our mountains. From our local 4-Hers who were learning to build the trails as part of a 4-H project to contractors building stunning bridges, this trail came together because hikers, bikers, equestrians, and family members were willing to dedicate their time and energy to help it become a community shared space. Thank you to our Santa Cruz County Council, MBOSC , City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation, local forest service, Members of Take back Santa Cruz, many sponsors and volunteers for this absolutely beautiful trail. Thank you most of all, Emma McCrary for your passion and vision and over 50 years of dedication to making trails for the community.

Special words from my Daughter Katelyn Praly age 15: From a local mountain biking/ horse riding family: Thank you so much for letting us work, build, and ride this trail. It is by far our favorite trail. The flow of the trail is so wonderful; it allows both horses, bikers, and hikers to ride and have fun while still having a safe inviroment to do so. So once again thank you County Council and the Mayor for letting us do this!
