Prescribed Burn Scheduled In Northern Santa Cruz County

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Firefighters will burn wildfire fuels in a prescribed burn Thursday in northern Santa Cruz County, according to Cal Fire.

The fire will burn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. near the intersection of Empire Grade and Jamison Creek Road, but smoke may linger up to two days after the fire is out, Cal Fire officials said.

Prescribed burns are controlled fires intended to remove dead plants that fuel wildfires.
