Who Should Get a Hepatits A Vaccination?

Only those who have eaten the contaminated berries in the last 2 weeks, need a hepatitis A vaccination. If they have eaten berries beyond the two weeks, they should watch for symptoms. The vaccine is effective within two weeks of exposure but not beyond that. Public Health is concerned that those who would really benefit from the vaccine will be unable to get it because of the high demand. Costco is open tomorrow and is providing hepatitis A vaccine according to the guidelines provided by the California Department of Public Health. -- Laurie Lang, Senior Health Educator Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency
