Seems like every day I see another NextDoor post about rising energy bills, so I thought some of you might be interested in attending this meeting on plug-in solar (or "balcony solar" as it's more commonly called in Europe).  Plug-in solar panels connect directly to a standard home outlet, allowing solar energy to flow directly into your home's electrical circuit and reduce the electricity you draw from the grid. The panels can be placed on the ground, on a balcony, on a deck or fence--wherever the sun shines and there's an accessible outlet. No need for a roof install, and since they're portable you can take them with you if you move.
A bill was introduced in the California Senate three days ago that would make plug-in solar systems under 1200W legal without permitting requirements or connection fees (Utah passed a similar bill last year, and half a dozen other states have bills in the works to approve plug-in solar).
The guest speakers are from Bright Saver (https://www.brightsaver.org/), a non-profit working on bringing this tech to the US to make solar more affordable for all.
If you're curious about how these systems work or what the legislative outlook is for plug-in solar in California, you can register for the Zoom link at bit.ly/SFVCR and join Tuesday Jan 13, 7-8:30pm.
