Luke Perry to Join Rally at Sherman Oaks School

'Beverly Hills, 90210' actor to participate in event at Millikan Junior High School in support of public education.

Actor Luke Perry, who starred in the hit TV series Beverly Hills, 90210, is expected to come to Sherman Oaks on Tuesday morning to take part in a campaign to support public education.

Perry is to appear at Millikan Junior High School for a 7:30 a.m. rally as part of a statewide event called "Wake Up California." The event is a parent-led effort to unite people in support of public education at a time when school funding is facing cuts and large numbers of teachers are losing their jobs.

It's unlikely any of the junior high school students at Millikan saw the first run of the popular TV series on which Perry made his name. Beverly Hills, 90210 went off the air in May 2000 after 10 years on the air. No doubt many of the Millikan parents remember it, though.

After the rally at Millikan, located at 5041 Sunnyslope Ave., Perry is expected to speak to the students and take questions about education and his career.

Later in the day, after appearances at schools in central Los Angeles, Perry is to join parents at a 4 p.m. rally in support of public education at the Federal Building in Westwood.
