New Assemblyman’s First Success Adds One Second to Yellow Lights

New State Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian has his first success in the California State Legislature in a bill that allows one more second to the yellow lights in all of the state streetlights. (It has yet to pass the state senate.)

Local field representative for Nazarian, who succeeded Mike Feuer, came to the recent Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Association. Steven Butcher, who also covers the area of Studio City and Valley Village, explained, “The legislation was passed unanimously.”

The streetlights timings are regulated by the state, and AB-612 by Nazarian would require that yellow light intervals at intersections equipped with automated enforcement systems be extended by one second.

The crowd of 50 people at the meeting applauded the passage.
