Study Finds Van Nuys Orange Line Station Area Attractive for Transit-Oriented Development

The report ranks 104 L.A. County neighborhoods near transit stations on Livable Communities Opportunity Index

Last year, the Los Angeles Business Council issued a reporting written by concluding that most working class Angelenos can't afford to live where they work. Now, a new study this year from the LABC takes a look at how to fix that problem, which is to develop affordable housing along transit corridors.

The study ranks 104 L.A. County neighborhoods near transit stations on Livable Communities Opportunity Index, and one of the neighborhoods that gets an in-depth analysis is the area surrounding the Van Nuys Orange Line station, which ranks in the upper third on the index with a score of 68.

"Because of the connections to the Orange Line, the adjacent bike path, and a number of key north-south running bus routes along Van Nuys Boulevard, the site is an excellent location for a mobiliy hub," the study concludes.
