Two Van Nuys LADWP Facilities Receive Sustainability Awards
The two buildings were able to drastically reduce water usage and increase their reliance on renewable energy.
VAN NUYS, CA — Six Los Angeles Department of Water and Power buildings were honored for their sustainability, two of which are located in Van Nuys. The awards were handed out at the Municipal Green Building Conference & Expo, sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Van Nuys Field Services Building received an award at the virtual event. According to LADWP, the facility reduced water use by over 41 percent and drew over 50 percent of its energy from renewable sources. In addition, LADWP says workers reduced conventional commuting by 39 percent after seeking alternative transportation options.
Valley Headquarters Administrative Office was also honored. The LEED Silver Certified Building has reduced water usage by over 56 percent and earned a 31 percent reduction in conventional commuting. According to LADWP, 105.75 of the facility's energy comes from renewable sources.
