Two Caught, Arrested at Scene of Sierra Madre Burglary
The pair were found burglarizing a home in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon, according to police. One suspect allegedly later assaulted a police officer after being taken to the Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
Two men who fled the scene of a burglary Wednesday afternoon were tracked down, caught and arrested by the Sierra Madre Police Department. One of the men was also arrested on charges of assault after allegedly fighting with an officer and a nurse at Arcadia Methodist Hospital shortly after he was detained.
Marquice Garrett, 20 of Pasadena was arrested on burglary charges and Lavon Fuller, 23, of San Bernardino was arrested on charges of burglary and assault.
Garrett and Fuller were found at the home after police received a call about a suspicious vehicle, according to a release from the Sierra Madre Police Department.
The caller then watched as the men put on hoodies to cover their faces and entered her neighbor's property, according to the police account.
When police arrived, the suspects fled in separate directions. Police then called in neighboring police departments and air support to help set up a containment to find the suspects. Though one of the pair ran through enough yards to make it nearly a mile away, both were eventually brought in.
Fuller was treated at the hospital after being bitten by a police dog. At that point, he fought with an officer at the hospital and managed to escape. According to police, he attempted to car-jack someone at the hospital but was then picked up by Arcadia Police Department officers, who had responded to assist the Sierra Madre officer.
Fuller is now being held in county custody while Garrett is at the Pasadena city jail, according to the release.
Sierra Madre Detectives believe Fuller and Garrett may be responsible for several other residential burglaries and thefts in the City of Sierra Madre and neighboring cities. Anyone with any information should contact Sierra Madre Police Detectives at 626.355.1414.
