DOWNEY (CNS) - The 1980s band A Flock of Seagulls had a van filled with $70,000 worth of equipment stolen from a hotel parking in Downey, it was
reported today.
The theft happened Sunday night outside a Comfort Inn after the band played a gig in Bellflower, according to news reports.
Surveillance video shows a car pull up to the van. A man gets out, breaks into the van and drives it off.
The van contained a hand-built guitar and other customized guitars, said Seagulls front man Mike Score, who told reporters hard drives containing his new solo album were also inside the vehicle.
Now the band, best known for its hit "I Ran (So Far Away),'' will be forced to use rented equipment as it plays overseas dates, Score said.
Anyone with information about the theft was urged to contact Downey police at (562) 861-0771.
