As of Monday, July 1, Paul Gothold, Deputy Superintendent of the Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD), will assume the position of Superintendent.
Last month, the Lynwood Board of Education appointed Gothold to the position. Superintendent Edward Velasquez announced his retirement in May.

Gudiel Crosthwaite, the Lynwood Unified Director of Elementary School Reform, will take charge of Gothold’s former responsibilities, but with the title of Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
“This will be a seamless transition as Mr. Gothold and Mr. Crosthwaite have already been working hand-in-hand with our Board of Education, staff, administration, parents and community to ensure that we offer the very best education for the students of Lynwood,” affirmed the LUSD Board of Education President Maria G. Lopez, according to an LUSD statement.

Gothold first joined the LUSD as its Chief Academic Officer in 2010. With 21 years working in public education, and has experiences as both a teacher and administrator.
Crosthwaite also joined the LUSD in 2010, and is expected to oversee, “curriculum and instruction, special education, student services and school reform,” according to an LUSD statement.
“I’m excited about this opportunity to continue the work that has already begun,” said Crosthwaite.
