LYNWOOD (CNS) - Three drivers were arrested at a driving under the influence checkpoint in Lynwood for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana or alcohol, authorities announced today.
The checkpoint was conducted by sheriff's deputies at Long Beach Boulevard and the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway on Friday, according to Detective Daniel Dail of the sheriff's Traffic Services Detail.
More than 2,500 vehicles went through the checkpoint and 1,500 drivers was checked. There were 39 arrests.
One suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle that was not equipped with an ignition interlock device required because of a previous conviction for driving under the influence.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs.
Eight were arrested on suspicion of driving on suspended or revoked licenses. Three suspects had prior driving under the influence convictions.
Twenty-five drivers suspected of not having licenses were arrested. Nine vehicles were impounded for 30 days and 15 vehicles were stored for a day.
Nineteen vehicles were released to the registered owners under checkpoint release procedures.
