Little Change to Southland Gasoline Prices

By City News Service

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today, remaining at $4.038 after rising one-tenth of a cent each of the past two days.

The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago but 5.4 cents more than one month ago and 33.2 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent to $4.016, one day after dropping two-tenths of a cent. It is 2.5 cents less than one week ago, but 6.7 cents more than one month ago and 35.9 cents higher than one year ago.

The trend of dropping prices has ended because of an increase in wholesale prices over the past week stemming from a "re-emergence of concerns regarding the Torrance refinery and apparent big plans for exports which is depleting stockpiles,'' Marie Montgomery Nordhues of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
