Lynwood Unified Board of Education Honors Employees with Resolution

By Patch Staff

The board of education of the Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD) chose to honor its employees on May 14 by passing a resolution that named the week of May 20, Certificated and Classified Employee Recognition Week.

“Our employees are the backbone of this School District,” said Maria G. Lopez, President of LUSD Board of Education in an LUSD statement. “It’s only fitting that we dedicate an entire week out of our school year to show our appreciation.”

The LUSD has roughly 2,200 “certificated and classified” staff members, which include teachers, secretaries, principals, school nurses, librarians,  lunch workers,  and custodians, among others.

“They are our educators and our support staff that help to create a positive learning environment where our students can grow and thrive,” said LUSD Superintendent Edward Velasquez in a statement. “We couldn’t provide a quality education without the important services that all of our employees provide.”
