Mother's Day History and Gift Basket Ideas
On Sunday May 12, many moms will get flowers, cards, and candy as gifts
According to History.com, "The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. Jarvis would later denounce the holiday’s commercialization and spent the latter part of her life trying to remove it from the calendar."
Jarvis herself was never married and never had kids, she created the day to celebrate her own mother, reports mothersdaycelebration.com.
Whether or not you agree with Jarvis' digust for the commercialism, consider thinking outside the gift box this Mother's Day. An easy idea is to put together a gift basket.
