INGLEWOOD (CNS) - A parolee who threatened to kill school children was at large today and Los Angeles County probation officers were asking for the public's help in locating him.
Frank Edward Edmonds, 40, who authorities consider "extremely violent and an imminent public threat,'' may be in Compton, South Los Angeles or Inglewood, his last known address.
While in a mental hospital, Edmonds "made several disturbing comments to staff that he was thinking about killing school children and then ending his life in a 'suicide by cop' scenario,'' Carol Lin of the county probation department said.
He is black, about 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds, with numerous tattoos on his arms, chest, back, abdomen, neck and right hand, she said.
Edmonds has convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and resisting arrest, and he has served three prison terms, including six years for assault with a deadly weapon.
Edmonds, released from the mental hospital May 6, is a registered student at Southwest Los Angeles College. He has used the names Russell Robinson and Dee Robinson.
"His recent threats and prior history of violence make him a person of interest by the Los Angeles County Probation Department and Inglewood Police Department,'' Lin said.
It was unclear why Edmonds was released, only to be sought again by law enforcement and probation officials.
Anyone with more information as to his whereabouts was urged to call the county probation tipline at (855) 563-7725.
