Music Concert, Booster Club, Hazardous Waste Disposal

1. Black Tongued Bells

The Black Tongued Bells, a band that derives its name from a line in the Dylan Thomas poem, I See the Boys of Summer, will give a performance today, Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on the lawn facing the Community Room in Library Park at 1115 El Centro St. The band will play its trademark “American swamp music,” a blend of rock, blues, Motown, Cajun and Gospel that makes them sound like “The Rolling Stones if they were from Louisiana.” The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC), the South Pasadena Public Library, and the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library are partnering to present the free event, which is SPARC’s Third Annual “End of Summer Concert.” Click here for further details.

2. SPHS Booster Club

Mark your calendars: The South Pasadena High School Booster Club’s second annual Booster Bash is on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Molinas, 1311 Chelten Way. 3. Hazardous waste disposal

Do you have household hazard waste such as paint, automotive products, batteries or expired medicine you'd like to dispose but don't know how—or where? What about electronic waste, such as computers, TVs, VCRs, copiers or telephones? Get junk like that out of your garage this coming Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. by dropping it off at the South Pasadena Unified School District parking lot on Diamond Avenue and Mission Street.
