Where Will the Garage Sales be This Weekend?

Saturday is National Garage Sale Day. How will you find the best in town?

For many people, weekend mornings mean scouring streets for garage sales.

Carboard signs and fluorescent posters point toward eclectic mixes of mismatched cutlery, clothes Grandma once wore (vintage, score!) and crates of albums that might contain a mint-condition version of The Bay City Rollers.

But how do you know if those treasures are more like trash? Good news: Now, there's an app for that!

With a few key strokes on your mobile device, you can map out your morning, even before logging on to South Pasadena Patch. MOGASA is a new, free application for mobile devices from PennySaverUSA that searches for existing garage sales in regard to your location—and also allows users to check in and rate the sale for others.

If you consider yourself an ultimate garage enthusiast (i.e. your kids will be really bummed if you drag them to one more) you might want to enter the "Ultimate Treasure Hunter's Challenge.''

In light of National Garage Sale Day, an e-mail with a list of treasures will be sent at 8 a.m Saturday. Using the MOGASA app, individuals and teams will hunt for all the items on this list.
