SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A person was rescued Wednesday after three boats caught fire in South San Francisco, according to a local official.

Emergency personnel responded around 7:20 a.m. to numerous reports of multiple boats ablaze near Oyster Point and found three vessels on fire, South San Francisco Fire Department Deputy Chief Matt Samson said. A person was recovered from the water and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to Samson.

The boats had been tied together when the fire began but became separated as it burned, he said, adding the flames were extinguished in about two hours. Authorities then took steps to minimize the amount of fuel going into San Francisco Bay, according to Samson, who said the U.S. Coast Guard and Redwood City Fire Department assisted in the response.
